Casual Play
Get your chill on with casual leagues and tournaments.
Most current leagues and tournaments are organized and run by members of the Ashes Discord, and are played on Ashteki.com. There are two exceptions to this. First, all AshCon events are organized by Plaid Hat Games, but still run on the Ashteki platform. Second, are the sporadic webcam events, which are held by members of either the Team Covenant Discord, or the Ashes Discord.

Slashfest
A tournament using the Coal-Off game mode in Ashteki where both players play Coal using a randomly generated deck.
The Coal-Off format was born of the idea that a player can win with Coal using a deck of thirty random cards. Coal’s Slash ability makes every card in his deck playable.
The Coal-Off mode in Ashteki deals both players one copy of One Hundred Blades and 29 other random cards. Dice pools are generated with the play costs of those cards in mind, but it is rare that a player will be able to play all the cards they are dealt using the play costs. Except that they can play all the cards they are dealt because of Slash.
To date, there have been two official Slashfest tournament events played over Askteki. The inaugural Slashfest in June 2023, and Holiday Slashfest in December 2023, were both won by Brian_B, making him the undefeated, undisputed Slashfest Champion of the world.
While a Coal-Off is largely luck-based, fans of the format enjoy the challenge of piecing together a winning strategy from a random pile of cards. Many players also enjoy discovering cards that never see play and later finding homes for them in “real” decks. Still others just really love Coal.

Carousel
The Carousel format is meant as a challenge for deck-builders to use a variety of Phoenixborn and random 3 color spreads. As such, it is a multi-game format, where most games result in a new pair of decks facing each other. The chained list applies to Carousel games.
Deck Construction
Before each game, for each player, a random Phoenixborn and 3 random dice types are chosen. If the Phoenixborn has an ability that requires a dice type that was not included in the selected dice, then the player may trade 1 entire dice type for 1-2 dice of the type required for the ability. This only applies for the Phoenixborn's ability, not any of their exclusive cards.
Example 1: Aradel is the Phoenixborn, with Charm, Sympathy, and Time magics as the dice types. The player may replace Charm, Sympathy, or Time with 1 or 2 Natural dice, keeping the other two colors.
Example 2: Echo is determined to be the Phoenixborn, with Natural, Illusion, and Ceremonial. Since Echo's ability requires no dice, the player may not trade any of the colors to get access to Divine or Sympathy in order to play Chaos Gravity.
After the Phoenixborn and dice are determined, the player constructs a deck and dice pool using regular Ashes Reborn rules. They are allowed to use any number of the determined dice, from a minimum of 0, up to the maximum of 10.
The Ashes discord has a way to generate the Phoenixborn and dice combinations randomly. Join the discord, go to the #bot-chatter channel, and type "!car" to generate a Phoenixborn and 3 dice types.
Secret Santa
This format involved each participant creating a short list of Phoenixborn and cards or dice they wanted to use. The organizer would then randomly give those lists to a different participant, and the receiving participant would construct a deck based on those lists. Lastly, the organizer would return a finalized decklist to the original player for their use in the event.
The remainder of the event would proceed as any other event; through swiss, top cut, or however else the brackets had been set up.
Team Covenant Webcam League (Discontinued)
Unfortunately, the Team Covenant Webcam league has been discontinued, due to declining sign ups and increased cost of maintaining the league.
Each session of the league ran over a period of 12 weeks, and 4 tournament legal alternate art cards were given to any participants who showed up for 8 of those weeks. It had an entry cost of USD $30, and was subscription based.
